At Mei Loci, we believe in the power of Landscape architecture for wellbeing in Cornwall. During Volunteer Week, our landscape architecture team took a break from studio life to support The Wave Project, a fantastic Cornish charity using surf therapy to improve young people’s mental health.
As landscape architects based in Cornwall, with a passion for coastal landscape design, this was a project that felt particularly close to home. We designed and built a peaceful beach garden for The Wave Project’s stand at the Royal Cornwall Show—a space inspired by the calm, healing qualities of the ocean and the spirit of inclusion and wellbeing.
The result was a coastal-themed garden that offered visitors a tranquil retreat amid the buzz of the show—a place to sit, connect, and reflect on the emotional and therapeutic value of outdoor environments. It was a live example of how thoughtful, nature-led design can support mental wellbeing and community connection.
